Critical Material Recycling

Essential Raw Materials, Finite Supply

A large part of the technology we rely on every day, like energy storage, electric vehicles (EVs), computers, and even defense systems, depends on critical minerals. However, there are growing concerns about whether the supply of these minerals can keep up with the increasing demand.

Addressing the gap between demand and supply will certainly require more mining but minerals are finite, so it's crucial to find new ways to reduce our reliance on extracting raw materials to meet our future clean energy needs. As a result, there is a growing focus on the possibility of recycling critical minerals from secondary sources. Two promising secondary sources for mineral recycling are end-of-life products and mine waste tailings.

Analysis for the Circular Economy

AnalytiChem enables elemental analysis workflows that support the recycling of end-of-life products ranging from lithium-ion batteries to catalytic converters. This analysis is essential for returning precious metals, rare earth elements and other critical minerals to the economy.

Our family of matrix-matched CRMs, which includes our Black Mass portfolio, provides analysts with well-characterized benchmarks to reliably assess the quality of their results.

In addition to CRMs, we provide a range of sample preparation equipment and consumables for ICP and XRF analysis, including digestion tubes, digestion equipment, binder, aluminum caps, pellet presses, and sample cups and film.
